Reading stixandstonz this week she had this post. Very emotional and also a picture of a moth she found and rescued. I had the opportunity when Kim and I went to Magic Wings Butterfly Conservatory, earlier this summer, to actually see one right after it was 'born'. DSCF3846 These are a couple of the photos I captured of it at that time. It's a moth of some variety and about 10inches. I was struck by the pattern on it's wing tips. Reminded us of a raptor and Kim and I thought perhaps some sort of natural protection from it's predators.DSCF3858 Kudos to stixandstonz for doing what she could to rescue the one she came across.

We had our own close encounter with a critter this turtle. DSCF4010 He was along the side of the road and from the looks of his shell I'd say he'd been niked by a car or something. He was motoring under his own power okay so I directed him back to the tall grasses where he'd be safe.

What else has been happening? Rain and lots of it. DSCF4249 The balloon festival we attend each year got shorted by the weather. The rain cleared but still lots of clouds. Did get a couple balloons up and I captured these shots of one of them. 7-12-09

    Sum-sum-summertime

Last summer I made an album with some of my favorite photos from the summer. I printed the pictures in a 5 inch square size and did a little journaling around them after I adhered them to cardstock. An embellishment or two and a cute rememberance of summer past. The season is so fleeting I decided I wanted to do something again this year but change it up a bit. So my friend Kim and I are each doing one with some chipboard we have. We motivate each other and draw on each other's creative energy. I decided to do my 100 favorites of the summer of 2009 so I've started putting photos in a folder on my computer. Since we're halfway through the summer already here are some of my favorites. DSCF3986 DSCF4012 DSCF4035 DSCF4044 DSCF4113 DSCF4261 I'll be sharing more.

    Hey it hasn't been months...

...and I'm posting again. Head over to Betsafly Gallery and see the beautiful gallery of flowers she's got going on there. There's even a picture taken by ME! So what else is going on here? Well even with only three days in June of no rain we managed to cram in some fun times. We went out to Gloucester and Rockport. 4982927197 The Fishermen Memorial in Gloucester. Gloucester is also home to Gorton's Fish and so this image may look a bit familiar to you if you've ever purchased it. And in Rockport Motif #1.DSCF4128 the most painted and photographed building in America. We had one of the three rainless days to enjoy there thankfully.  We also enjoyed some sites closer to home. A visit to the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls gave me the picture on Betsafly's Gallery and this one DSCF4307 among others. I've also gotten into the habit of going over to Old Deerfield on those random days I get the chance to get out of work early. I was able to catch bath time at the farm there for this bunch of geese. DSCF4380 We saw painted bears at the BearFest in EasthamptonDSCF4194 and painted moose in Bennington.DSCF4233 and what summer would be complete unless you saw some fireworks as well?DSCF4178 And there's more to come!

    Oh My..

..is it possible I haven't been over here since March? Thanks ElevenStones for reminding me. We celebrated Crystal and Kevin's first wedding anniversary the end of March. DSCF1855 They've made a very happy life together. Winter finally left us here in New England and Matt and I made a visit to the shore in Connecticut. I love the ocean and any time, no matter the season, I can go I'm there!DSCF2586 We had a beautiful sunshiney day and I was able to get my feet in the water lots. Water temp was 42 degrees but that didn't matter to me.  Oliver continues to keep us entertained and on our toes.DSCF3290 No longer a kitten he's grown and filled in. Very willful he's hard to disuade from anything he wants to do. He's also a very loving and affectionate companion to us with lots of cuddles and kissing. We celebrated Mother's Day with Crystal and Kevin, visiting Matt's mom as well. DSCF3129 My mom has been gone for 25 years this Father's Day and we're very lucky to still have Matt's mom with us. We made a drive out to the Albany, NY area, where I grew up, in May to visit the Empire State Plaza. My dad worked for one of the construction companies during it's construction in the '70s. Sunday afternoons he, my mom and I would go for a drive down there so he could share the week's progress with us. DSCF3307 That's the State Capitol building in the center. It was quite a trip down memory lane for me also going into Schenectady where I had my first job out of college and going by the building that housed the Law Firm I worked for. My best friend came up late in May for a visit from Florida. DSCF3960 We spent two days of her visit together doing all our favorite things with each other and having a blast! We're both avid picture takers and we did a load of picture taking during those days.  Matt and I went to our second "Strolling of the Heifers" parade in Brattleboro, VT and we enjoyed it as much as our first.  DSCF4157 The young cows and their young owners are the stars of the parade but there's also lots of bands as well as many other agricultural groups, dance schools, and, it seems, most of the town marching. It draws about 60,000 people each year to this little town in southern Vermont. This week is our vacation and we've started the fun already. Treated Matt to a train ride in the Berkshires for an early Father's Day gift. DSCF4078 We also toured author Edith Wharton's home 'The Mount'. DSCF4143 She designed and built it in the early 1900's and it's undergone a restoration. There's still work to be done but many of the rooms are complete as well as the grounds and beautiful formal gardens. As you can see it was a beautiful day. We have so many things near us to enjoy we don't have to travel far to have a wonderful vacation.

    So How's it Going?

Plugging along and scared to death of all the gloom and doom we get bombarded with every day.  Frustrated with work sometimes(lots) as many people are but grateful as all heck to have a job. So I go in and do what I need to do and come home and retreat in the cocoon I've created for myself there, doing laundry.

DSCF1055 Relaxing with Oliver and watching some tv. DSCF0684 and doing plenty of reading. DSCF1279 Winter is still with us. DSCF3751 But we're seeing more seasonable weather this weekend. The nights have been cold and the days are starting to get into the 40s at least. Perfect weather for the sap to run. DSCF3779
